BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) - In photos obtained by Eyewitness News, a crushed Ford F150 pickup sits badly damaged in a Kern County yard, allegedly wrecked by a worker in a drunk-driving crash.

According to Bakersfield police, Erik David Webb was traveling north in the 4100 block of Union Avenue early Monday near Columbus when he rear-ended another vehicle.

Webb, who police believe had been drinking, then got out of his county-issued pickup and ran from the scene of the accident. He was later caught and arrested.

He remained in county jail until he sobered up. Webb was then cited and released.

Court records reveal Webb's charges include misdemeanor DUI and hit-and-run.

County official Allan Krauter said Webb was authorized to drive his county vehicle home.

Krauter said Webb was placed on administrative leave as soon as the County Roads Department learned of the crash.
