BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The California Water Service Co. and residents have confirmed that a water leak on the 300 block of Pauma Court in Bakersfield is in the process of being fixed, after an Eyewitness News investigation found the leak had been running for over a week.

Ted Spears, a concerned resident, became increasingly worried since a "Cal Water" water main caused a sinkhole on Wednesday on a portion of Planz Road in Bakersfield.

"We're going to be close to that if we don't take care of it," Spears said, referring to the sinkhole. "We just want them to take care of the problem ... and make everybody happy. We want to be safe."

"Cal Water" spokesperson Rudy Valles said a 3/4-inch service line was leaking underneath the road, but that it did not pose any danger.

Valles described the problem as a "Code 1" issue on a scale of 1-4, with 4 being the worst.
