BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- A trucking company has offered more responses to accusations that drivers have not been paid.

Eyewitness News investigated allegations by drivers and talked to the owner of C and R Transportation on Tuesday. On Wednesday, the owners wanted to add more comments.

Robert Davis said the truckers who are complaining did not provide the company with log books and fuel receipts. He also said some of the drivers abandoned their loads, kept equipment and made late deliveries of loads.

Davis also said the drivers who own their trucks were supposed to be paid through an agent.

Truck drivers who contacted Eyewitness News said they are owed thousands of dollars. Some said they were supposed to be paid $100 a day and got no pay at all.

Davis also said a woman who reported she was the company secretary and bookkeeper for several months never worked for him.

The secretary and truck drivers said they are filing complaints with the state labor board. Davis said he has an appointment at the labor board on Thursday and another date with the board at the end of March.
