Father dies before woman can share graduation video
Dee Walters discusses her graduation and unhappiness over not receiving a DVD she ordered for her ill father. By Anthony Bailey, Eyewitness News
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- Dee Walters has always wanted to teach kids about life and music. Walter's dream was realized when she graduated last June from California State University, Bakersfield.
On graduation day she had mixed emotions, because her father, who lives in Illinois, had fallen ill and was unable to attend. Walters ordered a video from DVD Graduation and planned a surprise visit to her parents. The DVD, however, never arrived. "I felt very let down (and) betrayed by the company," Walters said. "I lost." Walter's father later died, something that breaks her heart to this day. "He'll never get to see it," she said. "They can't give me that back." Officials at CSUB said they've been in contact with the company and the DVD should be delivered in the next three weeks. The university plans to use a different DVD company in the future, officials said. |
