TAFT, Calif. -- Darrell Russell claims he bought a home in Taft in August 2008.

He has been making payments on that home and spent about $16,000 in repairs since he purchased it, but he now says the owner changed their deal and told him that he's only renting the home.

Russell says when he purchased the house, it was in such bad shape that it took him a month and a half just to make it nice enough to live in.

"Its not a nice house or anything like that, but its good enough for me to hang my hat in," says Russell.

Russell says he met the owner of the home, Judy Miller, and they agreed on a deal, but then everything changed.

"We agreed that I would buy the house for $15,000. With my down payment it was $13,000 with 8½ percent interest," says Russell.

After cleaning up the home and making the conditions "livable" Russell claims Miller finally brought out a contract, but its not what they had agreed upon. The contract said that only $100 of each month's payment would be going to pay for the home.

Russell refused to sign that contract. Then, Russell claims Miller told him that he was only renting the home and that she has now threatened to evict him because he has not signed a contract.

"You're supposed to be a man or woman of your word, you know," says Russell. "I wish that she would do the right thing, you know, come up with the right contracts so we can get on with life."

Two messages left for Miller seeking an interview weren't returned.
