Couple wants refund after buying car from man in parking lot
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- A couple was walking on Niles Street in northeast Bakersfield when they came across a man selling used cars in a store parking lot.

Although the couple wanted a van, they settled for a Ford Taurus at a price of $1,500.

The couple later found out that the salesman, Mike Carabajal, didn't have the proper paperwork for the vehicle. Even more disturbing was the fact that they learned the City Auto Group dealer plates on the car were stolen.

"I trusted him with everything," said the woman, who spoke on condition of anonymity. "He seemed honest."

After trying to cancel the deal, the couple decided to call the Eyewitness News tip line.

Carabajal was reached via phone Monday but declined comment.
