A local family called our tip hotline for help. They wanted us to find out why their son's headstone remains incorrect since the day he was laid to rest, more than two years ago. Eyewitness News Investigator Bernadette Flores got some answers.

16-year old Wendale Davis was buried more than 2 years ago, and ever since that day the birthday engraved on hisheadstone has been wrong. "It makes us sick, just sick, this is sacred for us you know, its really sacred," says Wesley Davis Jr, Wendale's father.

The Davis's noticed Wendale's birthday was listed as November 11th, his actual birthday is November 22. They told the funeral home almost immediately after his burial but say they have been waiting for 2 years for it to get fixed.

The Davis's say the funeral home got it wrong and should fix it for free. Not so says James Gamble, the funeral home director at Beloved Care. "If there was a mistake i apologize we have human errors but when we get signed proof we believe this correct, " says Gamble.
Gamble showed us a proof he says was signed by Denise Davis, Wendale's sister. The birthdate listed at November 11th. Denise says the proof is a fake.

"I filled all that out correctly everything was accurate so i don't know where he got November 11th, I put November 22, 1989, " says Davis.
Regardless of who got it wrong, the Davis's just want it fixed. Their pastor has offered to pay for any additional costs.

After our interview with the funeral home, the cemetery pulled the incorrect headstone at the request of the funeral director. Union Cemetery says they were waiting on the funeral director for final approval before the tombstone was pulled and replaced.
