BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — San Joaquin Community Hospital was honored Wednesday with the Get With The Guidelines Stroke Gold-Plus Quality Achievement Award.

The award was given for the Stroke Center's implementation of quality improvement measures outlined by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association.

SJCH also was named to the Target: Stroke Honor Roll, and a three-year sponsorship and education campaign with SJCH and the American Heart/Stroke Association was announced.

"The Stroke Center at SJCH is dedicated to improving the quality of stroke care and The American Heart Association/American Stroke Association's Get With The Guidelines-Stroke helps us achieve that goal," Michelle Hartshorn, director of the Brain & Spine Institute at SJCH, said in a news release. "With this award, our hospital demonstrates our commitment to ensure that our patients receive care based on internationally respected clinical guidelines."
