County supervisors consider moving family residency at KMC

County supervisors consider moving family residency at KMC
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBAK) - Tuesday morning, county supervisors heard from Kiki Nocella, CEO of Believe Health Group, on benefits of moving family medicine residency from Kern Medical Center to facilities ran by Clinica Sierra Vista.

Nocella explained the Clinica move could offer huge financial savings for the county.

Doctors questioned the validity of Nocella's figures, because many came from the billing and accounting dept at KMC.

An official at KMC admitted that Monday it was discovered that nearly 2,500 patient treatments hadn't been billed for services received at KMC last year.

Others doctor pointed to bigger cities like Fresno that have two family residency programs, an idea that seem to gain traction with all sides.

The county board is expected to take the issue up next week at regularly scheduled meeting.
