BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Jason Stevens decided to get his life back after weighing in at 710 pounds less than two years ago.
The 34-year-old Bakersfield man began a program at Lyday Fitness 18 months ago with personal trainer and owner Neal Lyday and has since lost more than 200 pounds.
Lyday says nutrition is 80 percent of the battle, with exercise accounting for the rest. Stevens changed his eating habits and started working out slowly by walking.
Now, he’s stepped up his exercise program to five days a week of cross-fit training.
Stevens says he hopes to reach his next goal of 300 pounds in the next year and a half. He says it’s important to remain motivated and have a good support system.

How did he get to 700+ lbs to begin with? I mean don't you notice a problem waaaay before that?Â
Way to go Jason. Makes my need to lose 75 pounds seem doable!
The Bakersfield Californian re; Facebook Post about this story.  Why does the caption on the FB comment say "Lost in the tragic events Friday was this local, inspirational story.........."  ?
@Christopher M. It says that because it was supposed to be posted on Friday but got lost in all of the reports of Friday's shooting.
