BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — On Wednesday morning, the Air Quality Index for Bakersfield hit 355.

That AQI carries with it a hazardous alert.

With the air in Kern County regularly considered some of the worst in the nation, Eyewitness News reached out to an expert to talk about what the impacts of Wednesday's air quality means for citizens of the area.

On Thursday, Heather Dumais, with the American Lung Association's San Joaquin Valley chapter, joined Eyewitness News Mornings to talk about the local air quality.
