A fundraiser at Beach Park to help 23-year-old Brandon Gonzales and his family deal with lost wages and medical expenses during his treatment for testicular cancer

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) -- A special fundraiser was held over the weekend at Beach Park for a 23-year-old Bakersfield man who was recently diagnosed with testicular cancer.

Brandon Gonzales said he almost fainted when he got the diagnosis. And the next thing he knew he was in surgery.

The fundraiser, which was organized by a friend's wife, aims to help Gonzales and his family deal with medical expenses and lost wages."It feels great to have all this support, you know with everyone in town. People I don't even know helped out.  It's crazy," said Gonzales.

Gonzales works as a rig welder for KS Industries and noted that his employer has been very supportive, especially in allowing him to work around his treatment schedule.
