BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — It won't be long until Kern County's biggest outlet mall will open at the base of the Grapevine.

The Outlets at Tejon announced it'll add two stores new to the county, and even a restaurant most local people already know.
In an effort to keep anticipation high, Tejon Ranch spokesman Barry Zoeller said they will slowly announce the outlets stores until opening day Aug. 7.

"We have a lot that we can tell you and a lot that we can't yet tell you,” he said Wednesday.

Zoeller revealed the outlet’s newest stores: "Our latest shops would be Brooks Brothers, J Crew Factory, and, of course, just down the line here we have the new Pottery Barn Outlet, which is under construction. It's the only Pottery Barn Outlet in the state of California."

Also new, Bakersfield’s Mauricio’s Mexican restaurant is set to open across from the outlets in the Tejon Commerce Center.

"We are expecting in the neighborhood of 10 to 14 million people will shop here every year. Not everyone will eat here, though a lot of them will," the spokesman said. "So they'll be opportunities all around the Commerce Center for folks to get something to eat."

The outlets also have a new general manager, Brian Hassett.

"It’s really exciting to be a part of the first outlet center to be built in Southern California in more than 10 years,” said Hassett.

Zoeller said the new shopping mecca will generate a lot of revenue for the county.

"Millions of dollars in sales tax revenue, so certainly folks in the County of Kern are looking forward to our opening,” he said.

With the stores come jobs.

Some of the stores have already posted for manager positions. Individual stores will start to hire for other positions in late spring and early summer.
