BPD: Woman hit crossing against 'don't walk' signal

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A 28-year-old Bakersfield woman was hospitalized Saturday after behind hit by a car while crossing California Avenue, just west of Union.

Police said Jessica Thompson stepped in front of a Nissan sedan, as the driver was westbound on Union making a right turn onto California. The department news release also noted that Thompson was crossing the street outside the crosswalk against a "don't walk" signal.

The driver was not injured, and police said she stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
