BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Snow is possible Saturday morning in Bakersfield.

Whether the city will see its first significant snowfall since 1999 remains iffy, but out-of-town travel is more certain to be impacted.

Eyewitness News weathercasters estimate 3-6 inches of snow early Saturday as low as 4,000 feet, which would impact the Grapevine and Tehachapi Pass. Snow levels could dip as low as 1,000 feet.

The chance for precipitation is forecast at 60 percent for the valley, and, with such a cold atmosphere - overnight low in Bakersfield forecasted to be 25 degrees - snow is possible in Bakersfield.

A winter weather advisory is in effect through late Saturday, though the only chance of snow appears to be early Saturday.

Once this massive low-pressure system moves through by Saturday evening, another shot of very cold air will come to Kern County, bringing another round of hard freeze warnings through Tuesday.

Kern County's citrus farmers have been battling freezing conditions already this week.

Warmer weather is predicted for the end of next week and the following weekend.
