2 men shot on Real Road; Highway 58 closed during investigation

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Two men were found shot inside a car at the intersection of Real Road and Highway 58 early Saturday morning, Bakersfield police said.

Police said the driver, identified by the coroner's office as 23-year-old Kevin McMahan, later died from his wounds at Kern Medical Center. The passenger is expected to survive and is being treated for moderate injuries at KMC.

At around 2:30 a.m. officers were called out to a shooting at Highway 58 at South Real Road, near the Highway 99 interchange.

California Highway Patrol closed the westbound lanes between Real and Chester to investigate the shooting.

At around 9 a.m. Highway Patrol reopened the H Street on-ramp. The highway was reopened at around 12:30 p.m. Saturday.

Police said they do not have any named suspects in the shooting at this point. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Bakersfield police at 327-7111.
