BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- The body found floating in a canal Wednesday was that of a 36-year-old Delano man.

The coroner's office identified the man as Ramiro Larios Ramirez on Thursday. His body was found by a worker who was checking the water level in a canal off Brimhall Road east of Coffee Road in northwest Bakersfield.

Police said at the seen that they didn't find any obvious signs of trauma on Ramirez' body, which they thought was in the canal for at least a couple days.

The coroner's office didn't release a cause of death, because it's awaiting toxicological results.

It's unknown how Ramirez ended up in the canal. His family reported him missing Nov. 18, according to the coroner's office.
