Door-to-door salesmen upset residents
By Anthony Bailey, Eyewitness News
BAKERSFIELD,Calif. -- Sales teams from a company called Advantage Cleaners have been making the wrong impression on residents around southwest Bakersfield.
Tuesday, that annoyance led to some residents calling the police department. "I don't like it. If I need cleaner, I can go to the store and buy it myself," said one neighbor who didn't want to be identified. Veronica Pilkinton said the guy who came to her door wouldn't take no for and answer. "My mom was there. I asked her to stay until my boyfriend got home," Pilkinton said. Eyewitness News called the board of equalization, and it said sales permits are required to sell within the city of Bakersfield but not in the county. Police said if residents suspect something is wrong they can ask for a business license, sales permit and personal identification card. |
