Cal City police: Man admits killing son

CALIFORNIA CITY, Calif. -- A man was arrested early Friday on suspicion of killing his son.
Robert Lee Beard, 63, reportedly told officers from the California City Police Department that he shot his son, 36-year-old Terry Lee Dillon, during an argument. Beard and Dillion lived together at a home on the 21200 block of Kenniston Street, and Beard wanted his son to move out, according to a police news release. Beard threatened Dillion with a .38 pistol to get him to leave, and shots were fired during the struggle, police said. The father was booked into Kern County Jail in Bakersfield on a presumed charge of murder. The last murder in California City was in 2007 when 14-year-old Jamesha Terry was killed by her uncle, according to police. |
