Man found guilty of '07 murder of 90-year-old woman
By Eyewitness News staff
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- A man was found guilty Wednesday of murdering a 90-year-old woman in 2007.
The jury determined Timothy Titus Rodriguez killed Thelma Long and beat her 59-year-old daughter, Cathryn Reeves, over a dispute about the amount of money he was paid to do odd jobs around their house. Rodriguez' estranged fiancée, Chenoa Martinez, was also arrested. She was originally charged with being an accessory to the murder and with multiple counts of forgery, but she took a plea deal in December 2007 that sent her to prison for two years on one felony count of forgery. Rodriguez, who could face the death penalty, was found guilty of six felonies, including first-degree murder, robbery and attempted murder. Court records don't indicate when testimony will begin in the penalty phase of the trial. |
