By Eyewitness News staff
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- Police are investigating a stabbing death overnight near Sam Lynn Ballpark.
Officers arrived about 1:30 a.m. to find 58-year-old Jerry Luther Ennis of Tehachapi lying in a puddle of blood on a front porch in northeast Bakersfield. He had been stabbed or cut to the neck or throat. Detective Mary DeGeare said it appeared Ennis was wounded inside a car parked near the spot where he was found. He was taken to Kern Medical Center, where he died. Two people were detained for questioning, according to Detective Mary DeGeare. It's unknown if anyone was arrested. One neighbor said he heard what sounded like a party in the area of the stabbing, which was on M Street near 36th Street. Police haven't said whether that could be tied to a motive. |
