Boy, 16, arrested for Lamont murder

LAMONT, Calif. -- A teenager was arrested for murder and authorities are looking for two other suspects after one man was killed and another was stabbed Thursday night.

Kern County Sheriff's deputies were called to a home on the 7600 block of Burger Way, where they found an 18-year-old man who appeared to have been stabbed and beaten, according to the sheriff's office.

That man was taken to the Kern Medical Center emergency room, where he died. The coroner's office identified him as Paul Bernardo Maytorena from Brawley, a town near the Mexican border.

The second stabbing victim, whose name was withheld, was treated and released from KMC.

The investigation revealed that the altercation occurred on 10400 block of San Emidio Street in Lamont. Deputies arrested an unidentified 16-year-old boy on suspicion of committing murder, conspiracy and assault with a deadly weapon.

Deputies are still looking for two suspects, though they haven't released any descriptive information. Anyone with information helpful to the investigation is asked to call the sheriff's office at (661) 391-7774.
