A 25-year-old man with four previous DUI convictions crashed into a pregnant teenager and her passenger Monday night.

Otis Lee Taylor Jr. was stopped at Brundage Lane and P Street when a California Highway Patrol car passed him. He allegedly panicked and hit the gas, according to a CHP news release.

The CHP officers turned around to go after Taylor as he accelerated to about 90 mph. Taylor ran a red light at 4th Street, narrowly missing two vehicles, before running a red light at California Avenue and crashing into a car occupied by 17-year-old Laura Romero and 21-year-old Chantha Lay.

Taylor, who was apparently intoxicated, ran from the crash before officers caught and arrested him. He faces several charges, including felony DUI, felony hit-and-run and driving on a suspended license.

Romero, who is pregnant, suffered moderate injuries, and Lay suffered major injuries, according to the CHP.
