The March Meet at Famoso Raceway was in full swing over the weekend.

Cash registers and cars alike were not slowing down as race enthusiasts filled up restaurants and hotels, providing an economic boost to Kern County.

Despite a slumping economy and rising unemployment, people came from all over to see the 51st running of the March Meet at Famoso Raceway.

It brought a much-needed infusion of cash to the county’s economy, especially in the form of food and lodgings.

Vendors said they were surprised by how much people are willing to spend.
