Bakersfield police are looking for a 40-year-old Bakersfield man accused of terrorizing his wife for two days before her report prompted a SWAT call out.
Neighbors in the 1100 block of Sandra Drive say Clemente Toribio was brandishing a weapon shortly before officers arrived late Friday afternoon. Police sergeant Greg Terry says officers believed Toribio was in the home's garage. Terry says the woman was able to escape with two other adults and a young child, but the couple's 14 year old daughter remained in the home and they feared for her safety. The teen got out of the home just after 9 P.M. and told police Toribio was gone. The SWAT team made entry to the home about an hour later and confirmed that. Now they're trying to figure out when and how he got away. A warrant has been issued for Toribio's arrest charging him with criminal threats. He's described as 5-foot-7, 240 pounds, with brown hair and eyes. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call Bakersfield Police at 661-327-7111. |
