Fewer Americans still bank in person

When was the last time you actually walked into your bank?

Technology, such as mobile bill payment, means fewer people ever have to make a trip to their local bank.

A new survey from Bankrate.com finds three in 10 Americans haven't visited a bank in at least six months.

Bankrate.com financial analyst Greg McBride says online-only banking accounts have become more popular over the last few years because they offer higher interest rates than traditional banks.

Using an ATM did not qualify as a visit.
