BAKERSFIELD, Calif., (KBAK/KBFX) — Just two days after some critical words about ticket sales for his upcoming show in Bakersfield, comedian Jay Mohr joined Eyewitness News on Thursday to talk about what was said.

Mohr is set to perform Saturday night at the Fox Theater.

Tuesday, during his nationally syndicated sports talk show on Fox Sports Radio, Mohr said in part, "Bakersfield, I tried. I talked for about a month straight about the Fox Theater and how great it's going to be. Well, you know what, it ain't."

Mohr said only about 400 tickets had been sold for his show at the Fox, which holds about 1,500 people.

During Mohr's conversation Thursday with Eyewitness News, he said much of his criticism with the lack of ticket sales came from the fact that proceeds from the show will go toward the Community Action Partnership of Kern food bank.

Because ticket sales were low, the food bank would suffer. During his radio show Tuesday, he said only $10 had been donated to the food bank.

Tickets for the show can be purchased for $40. But tickets can also be had for a donation to the food bank.
