BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The Bakersfield Condors could be changing ownership.

According to the Edmonton Sun, the Condors could be purchased by the NHL's Edmonton Oilers. The Condors are already a minor-league affiliate, ECHL, of the Oilers.

The Bakersfield team is currently owned by Jonathon Fleisig, who owns several other minor league teams.

Sun reporter Terry Jones wrote Tuesday, "The idea of the NHL Oilers deciding to purchase the franchise is believed to be motivated by having the ability to control the supply of prospects not signed to NHL or AHL contracts."

The Condors haven't commented on the sale report.

Bakersfield (14-17-1-1, 30 points) beat Stockton 7-2 Tuesday night.
