25,000 participate in LA Marathon

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Two runners from Ethiopia claimed top bragging rights at the Los Angeles Marathon, which saw temperatures hit 80 on Sunday.

Marathon officials say 28 people were hospitalized and treated for mostly heat-related injuries after the race.

The race also meant tighter security measures due to last year's bombing at the Boston Marathon.

This year's Los Angeles marathon featured 25,000 runners.
