I am a general assignment reporter for Eyewitness News with special emphasis on city and county government and crime. I've been with Eyewitness News since 1992. My goal is to tell stories that are important to my viewers, and to show how events and issues affect their lives.

From 1984 through 1992 I worked at several radio stations in Bakersfield. I was the News Director at KERN-AM and News Director and anchor at KKXX. I started in radio news at stations in Utah and Idaho. I attended Idaho State University in Pocatello, ID, majoring in Broadcast Journalism.

I am the proud mother of three grown sons.

As four patients are being treated for possible pesticide exposure near Lost Hills, the Kern County Agriculture Commissioner's Office starts the job of tracking down exactly what happened. Officials say they're checking into a ground application of an insecticide about a half mile from where dozens of solar plant construction workers were checked over on Friday morning. They're not sure that's the cause, and Ag commission officials say they're not ruling out anything.

One week after voicing his complaints, a southeast Bakersfield neighbor says he's getting results. The piles of junk have been cleaned off the roadway, and city officials promise more patrols to clean that up and watch for illegal drag racing on Redbank Road between South Oswell and South Sterling Road.

A mother is arrested in Wasco, after her toddler is found left alone in a hot car. She now faces a felony charge, and families are warned about the dangers of kids and cars. "You wouldn't leave your child in an oven, so don't leave them behind in a car," says Kern County Human Services spokeswoman Heidi Carter-Escudero.

Federal immigration enforcement officials say they like the plan by Kern County Sheriff Donny Youngblood to let their officers work inside the local jail. Youngblood says the proposal would let him do his job better, and let Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials better decide if inmates should be deported after they are released from county custody.
