Good morning! I am thrilled to be back in The Golden State. My travels in recent years have taught me a valuable lesson:  you can take the girl out of California, but you can’t take the California out of the girl!  Bakersfield has become yet another home to me. I love working with such fun people and getting to meet amazing people in the field each day.

I was born and raised in Elk Grove, Calif., right outside Sacramento. I attended Sacramento State and began my broadcast career working for the CBS/CW affiliate there.

Getting up at 2 a.m. to go to a job that didn’t pay me convinced me this was the job for me. With some help from some amazing people at that station, I landed my first on-air job in Yuma, Ariz.

From interviewing the governor to nudists at a resort, my reporting has allowed me to meet all sorts of people. Eventually, I took on an anchor gig and spent my weekends bringing viewers the latest news from inside the studio.

When I’m not at work, you’ll find me watching "I Love Lucy" reruns, Paul Newman movies and bragging about my brother, who is proudly serving our country. Plus, the camera really does add 10 pounds, which means I do have to frequent the gym.

You can catch me reporting weekday mornings from 5-9 a.m. and anchoring the noon.

If you have an event or idea you think we should cover in the mornings, please e-mail me at cbrown@bakersfieldnow.com.
