James Koh
I joined the Eyewitness News team in the fall of 2008 and am currently a weekend reporter. I love being a voice for the people and covering stories of all kinds; whether that is being the first on scene of a police chase or finding interesting stories in even the most mundane event, you'll find me covering every story to the best of my ability.
My broadcast career actually began in radio, working in a tiny town in Montana. I then swapped one small town for another, moving to Bishop, California. There, I worked as a reporter in the mornings, a sports anchor at nights and, if you can believe it, a country music deejay in the afternoons. I may go down as the first and last Korean country music deejay in the history of radio! After I decided to further my education, I went to USC and got my master's degree in broadcast journalism. Shortly after graduation I was presented with this incredible opportunity to work for the Eyewitness News team, so here I am! When I'm not out traversing Kern County for stories, you can find me talking sports at every opportunity, especially college football. I know I went to USC, but I received my undergraduate degree from Berkeley, so I consider myself a Cal Golden Bear first and foremost. I'm also a big fight fan and follow both boxing and mixed martial arts whenever I get the chance. You can catch me on the weekends at 5, 6, 10 and 11 p.m. I can't stress this enough: We are supposed to be the voice of the people, so if there is an issue that is important to you, let us know. And if you do have a story idea please don't hesitate to e-mail me, or anyone else on our staff, using the link below. You can e-mail James at JKoh@bakersfieldnow.com |
