Driver pinned when truck topples with 1,500 gallons of propane

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A semitruck hauling 1,500 gallons of propane overturned Tuesday morning on a rural Kern County road, pinning the driver and shutting down traffic.

County firefighters on scene didn't know what caused the truck to topple on Deertail Drive near Bear Valley Road, in the Bear Valley Springs area. The driver was rescued by firefighters and taken to Kern Medical Center with moderate injuries.

The driver's name wasn't released. The truck was operated by Wholesale Fuels.

The propane tank didn't leak, but the wreckage closed the road for several hours.
