4 kids taken into protective custody after Tehachapi drug bust

TEHACHAPI, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Four children were taken into protective custody following an investigation Tuesday in Tehachapi.

The Kern County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday that officers and social workers conducted a child welfare check in the 18000 block of Alps Drive.

About 100 marijuana plants were found and seized. Deputies also located an assault rifle and equipment used to extract THC from cannabis, according to the sheriff's office.

Andy St. Claire, 29, and Savanah St. Claire, 31, were arrested.

Andy St. Claire was booked on open charges that include child endangerment, possession of an assault weapon and manufacturing of a controlled substance. Savanah St. Claire was arrested on an open charge of child endangerment.
