Police say bicyclist who trespassed on Westside Parkway was hit by truck

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A bicyclist was hit Monday night by a construction pickup on the yet-to-open Westside Parkway.

Police said they were called to the scene near Coffee Road around 10 p.m. The bicyclist, only described as a man, was riding on the closed roadway without a helmet, police said.

The bicyclist was taken to a hospital for treatment of moderate injuries, according to police.

The Westside Parkway is closed to vehicles, bicycles and pedestrians until it opens Aug. 2.
