Police: Man with machete robs convenience store

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A man with a machete and kitchen knife was arrested early Friday after allegedly robbing a convenience store clerk and stealing his car.

The suspect, 28-year-old Jorge Morales, reportedly used the machete during the robbery at the ampm convenience store at 4203 Ming Avenue.

About 30 minutes after the robbery, a police officer spotted Morales in the store clerk's stolen car traveling northbound on Union Avenue.

Police stopped Morales and took him into custody at Union Avenue and 19th Street.

Morales was arrested on suspicion of carjacking, robbery, and a parole violation.
