Man shot to death, 1 injured on Geneva Avenue

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) - One man was shot to death early Sunday morning in the 700 block of Geneva Avenue, another was wounded and taken by private means to a local hospital. Bakersfield police are investigating.

Officers were dispatched to the area just before 1 a.m. on reports of gunfire.

According to a department news release, they found a large crowd in the street and the shooting victim who was already dead.

No suspect information was immediately available.

The man who was shot to death was identified Sunday afternoon by coroner's investigators as 34-year-old Jerry Gray.

Court records show Gray has a history of run-ins with the law. In April, he pleaded to possessing a loaded gun without a permit and a gang charge for 89 days in jail.
