Woman who took ride from stranger claims sexual assault

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A woman who accepted a ride from a stranger driving along South Union Avenue claims the driver took her to an isolated area near Lamont and sexually assaulted her several times.

The Kern County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday that the suspect was described as white, in his 30s, 5-foot-8 and 200 pounds. He was also described as bald and had a tattoo on his stomach that included the letter "L."

The sheriff's office said the suspect was reportedly driving a 2000s model sedan, possibly a Volkswagen.

The alleged assault took place around 9 p.m. May 24.
