BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A man was sentenced Thursday to 21 years in prison for killing his brother.

Darren Lewis had pleaded no contest to voluntary manslaughter. Lewis shot his older brother, Leo Johnson, in November 2012 during a family gathering on Lotus Lane.

Lewis' grandmother told Eyewitness News at the time that Lewis had been mentally unstable since getting beat into a coma 10 years earlier at a Bakersfield park.
