$10,000 reward offered for help catching alleged party killer

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Police said Thursday that a $10,000 reward is being offered through the Secret Witness program for information leading to the arrest of a weekend shooting suspect.

Other conditions, such as a criminal complaint being filed against the suspect, could factor into the reward and size of award being paid.

Julio Jesus Romero, 21, is accused of a double homicide and double attempt homicide that occurred Sunday in the 3700 block of Columbus Street.

An arrest warrant was issued Tuesday, when police believed they had the suspect trapped inside a building on Sterling Road and Deacon Avenue. The SWAT team surrounded the building in an attempt to draw Romero out, but he was not found.

Romero is considered armed and dangerous, police said.

Jose Garcia III, 20, and Filiberto Ponce, 17, were killed in the shooting. Ramon Garza and Reginald Bailey, both 20, were injured.

Police haven't commented on a motive for the shooting.

Anyone with information regarding Romero’s whereabouts is asked to call Detective Ryan Kroeker at (661) 326-3546 or the Secret Witness line at 322-4040.

The Secret Witness phone line operates 24 hours a day. Secrecy is guaranteed to those who call.
