Police release suspect image from garage sex attack

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Police on Wednesday morning released a computer-generated composite of a sexual assault suspect.

A woman was attacked around 11:30 a.m. Monday at her home on the 8700 block of Fox Run Drive when she unlocked a door to her garage to investigate a noise.

Police said the woman was taken to a hospital with moderate injuries.

This sexual assault came at a time when many in the community are on high alert because of an apparent serial rapist running loose in east Bakersfield. Despite the east Bakersfield rapes, the number of rapes are actually down this year in Bakersfield compared to the previous year - 36 rapes thus far in 2013, compared to 44 at the same point in 2012, according to police.

The attacker in the Fox Run Drive incident was described as bald and Latino, about 5-foot-8, in his 30s with a goatee and tattoos on the right side of his neck and both arms. He left the area in a tan or silver four-door sedan.

Anyone with information helpful to the investigation is encouraged to call police at (661) 327-7111.
