Police car slammed going through Rosedale Hwy. intersection

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A police cruiser was involved in a crash Thursday afternoon in a busy northwest Bakersfield intersection.

Officer Seth Palmer was headed south through the intersection of Rosedale Highway and Coffee Road with his emergency lights on when an eastbound car driven by 74-year-old Joe Lopeteguy entered the intersection and crashed into the patrol car. Lopeteguy's car then hit another civilian vehicle, according to police.

Lopeteguy and his passenger, 74-year-old Betty Lopeteguy, complained of pain and were taken to a hospital. The officer had a complaint of pain and was seen at a local doctor’s office. The third driver was not injured, police said.

The crash remains under investigation.
