BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A ski-mask wearing man broke into an apartment early Thursday and sexually assaulted two people, the Kern County Sheriff's Office said.

The break-in occurred around 6 a.m. in the 2900 block of Virginia Avenue, according to the sheriff's office. All four apartment residents were bound, and two of them were assaulted.

The attacker was described as 6-foot tall with a medium build and dark skin. He wore a hood sweatshirt and ski mask.

A very similar assault took place in mid-July on Columbus Street, but the sheriff's office made no mention of a connection. Eyewitness News is following up with the sheriff's office for additional information.
