BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Four robbery suspects entered an east Bakersfield market Monday morning only to be shot at by a man inside the store, injuring one of the suspects, Bakersfield Police said.
The armed robbery attempt happened just before 1 a.m. at the Mi Tierra Market at 300 South Owens St.
The suspect who was shot and hit was wounded once in the head.
Minutes after the robbery attempt, that suspect took a taxi to Kern Medical Center, where officials alerted authorities that an injured man had arrived to the emergency room.
Two of the other three suspects were captured, leaving one still at-large.
The victim who shot at the suspects told police they had ordered store employees to get on the ground moments before he grabbed a gun and fired once in their direction.
