BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A woman crashed into a fellow driver Tuesday morning while allegedly trying to flee police.

An officer conducted a traffic stop on a speeding vehicle on westbound Columbus Street. The driver of the speeding vehicle pulled over but then took off when the officer got out of the squad car, police said.

The driver ran a red light at River Boulevard and plowed into a Chevrolet Cobalt, which caused the Chevy to hit a street light and catch fire.

The driver, 30-year-old Cinthia Rizo, was arrested after the crash on suspicion of grand theft auto, possession of stolen property, speeding, resisting arrest and two felony warrants for narcotics-related charges.

Her vehicle was reported as stolen out of county jurisdiction.

The driver of the Chevy complained of pain and was taken to a hospital, police said.
