Man shot near rescue mission

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — An argument between two men in the south alley of Sumner Street near the Rescue Mission ended with one of the men shooting the other around 7 p.m. Monday.

The wounded man made his way to the railroad tracks at East 21st and Baker streets, where he asked someone for help before collapsing, according to police.

The man who was shot was taken to Kern Medical Center. Sgt. Matt Eastman said both men were in their mid 30s.

Eastman said investigators believe they know who the shooter is, but weren't immediately ready to release that information.
