Drivers warned of closures, delays along Highway 178

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) - Officials have issued a pair of commuter alerts for Highway 178.

Electrical crews working near Canteria Drive, in the City in the Hills area, will require intermittent temporary closures from Tuesday to Friday. Workers will string a temporary power line across the highway, forcing them to stop traffic for up to 10 minutes at a time, according to the Thomas Roads Improvement Program.

In the separate Morning Drive Interchange Project, Hwy. 178's eastbound on-ramp from Fairfax Road will be closed between 6 a.m. and 4 p.m. Thursday and Friday. The outside eastbound lane of the highway will also be closed.

Drivers wanting to get on eastbound Hwy. 178 can use Oswell Street or Kern Canyon Road.
