BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A man was sentenced to six years in prison Thursday for a deadly drunk-driving crash in 2011.

Xsabier Medina, 21 at the time, was highly intoxicated and driving his Chevy Avalanche at an unsafe speed at Niles Street and Mt. Vernon Avenue when he plowed into the back of a stopped vehicle.

A man in the stopped vehicle died, and a woman and child in the vehicle were injured.

Medina pleaded no contest to a count of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. Other charges were dismissed.
