4 shot on Columbus Street, 2 die

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Four shooting victims were found early Sunday by police investigating a report of shots fired in the 3700 block of Columbus Street.

The victims were all taken to local hospitals, according to a news release from the Bakersfield Police Department.

The officers were dispatched to the area around 1:18 a.m.

Police said Sunday that two of the four shooting victims had died. Coroner's investigators identified the victims as 20-year-old Jose Garcia III and 17-year-old Feliberto Ponce. Garcia died shortly after arriving at Memorial Hospital, while Ponce died at Kern Medical Center around 3:25 a.m.
