18-year-old killed in crash with parked pickup

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A crash with a parked pickup truck Friday night has claimed the life of 18-year-old Daniel Cervantes of Bakersfield.

California Highway Patrol investigators said Cervantes was driving a 2010 Scion XD at an unknown rate of speed when he smashed into the back of a pickup parked on Center Street east of Rembrandt Street.

The crash happened just after 9:30 p.m. Friday.

Cervantes, who was not wearing a seat belt according to the CHP, died after being taken to Kern Medical Center.
